CXO Meeting Preparation
Trigger
Strategic customer, leadership connect, QBR with C-suite, or suspected expansion opportunity.
Objective
Build advisory trust at CXO level. Surface unstated needs. Position the platform as a strategic partner.
Stakeholders to align
- CXO / MD / CEO
- Business / Product Head
- CS Lead + Leadership
Tools you'll use
- CXO Dashboard
- Benchmark Library
- Executive Follow-up Note
- Account Handbook
- AI Cost & Usage Report (for AI-platform accounts)
Do
- Open with a market signal relevant to their segment — DPDPA, RBI AI governance, co-lending, embedded finance; for AI-platform customers swap in EU AI Act, model-risk governance, or agent reliability benchmarks.
- Show value delivered — volumes supported, workflows enabled, adoption movement. For AI-platform accounts also surface $/successful-outcome trend and token-efficiency gains.
- Ask 2–3 open questions around growth, risk, speed-to-market, or compliance pressure (AI accounts: model trust, unit economics, agent autonomy roadmap).
- Send a 1-page pre-read 48 hours before the meeting.
- Follow up within 24 hours with a personal executive note.
Don't
- Do not open with a product pitch or feature demo.
- Do not compare with competitors — use market benchmarks instead.
- Do not call out negative customer metrics in the room.
- Do not push a commercial proposal before validating a business need.
Conversation starters
"I was reading the McKinsey Banking Review — lenders growing fastest have brought decision-to-disbursement TAT below 24 hours. Your MSME TAT sits at 2.4 days. Worth a quick discussion?"
"Before we look at numbers — in the next 12 months, what would you most want improved: speed, cost, scale, compliance, or customer experience?"
"RBI's guidance on AI auditability in credit decisions is something boards are increasingly focused on. Has your team started thinking about AI governance in underwriting?"
"For AI-platform CXOs: a16z's latest enterprise study shows the gap between leaders and laggards is now $/successful-task, not tokens consumed. Where does your board want to land on that curve in the next 12 months?"
Orchestration timeline
- 1.T-48h: Send 1-page pre-read with market insight and one question
- 2.T-0: Lead with their business, not the product
- 3.T+24h: Send personal executive note with commitments
- 4.T+7d: Update account handbook with new intelligence
Positive signals
- CXO shares a strategic priority unprompted
- CXO introduces you to another business unit
- Meeting runs over because CXO is engaged
Anti-signals
- CXO delegates the meeting to a direct report
- Follow-up note unacknowledged for 5+ days
Target outcome
CXO sees you as a trusted advisor. Opens the door for deeper discovery and roadmap alignment.
Cadence: 4–6 month CXO connect + 24-hour follow-up
